I'm Back!

I have been extremely busy with work and young family.  It's spring and my oldest daughter just got a her first taste of victory in team sports.  Her team took first place in a cheerleading competition this past weekend.

After she won, I was wondering how I could use this to my advantage, teach her a lesson, and keep her motivation high.  I wrote her a letter.

Inspiration from Ysabel and Newton’s Laws of Motion

My Sunshine,

As spring arrives at work we start to talk about new arrivals in the market, new season of fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers and herbs, as well as spring lamb and baby goat.  At home and more importantly, this organic renewal of life is a good time to talk to you about just that.

Newton’s laws are as good a place as any to start.  As you continue to grow there will be forces that will affect how and at what rate you will grow.  There will be contact forces: People who are close to you that will push and pull you in either direction, or forces at a distance where you may not have control over.  Your awareness of both will give you the compass you need to steer you through situations and hopefully come out more knowledgeable and stronger on the other side.

As you move forward using the knowledge you gain and learn to control your surroundings, that of which you can, you will expand your mass and create an inertia that will be unstoppable.  Your achievements will be limited only by the boundaries you set for yourself.  I believe this to be true because, the efforts you put in to achieving your goals can overcome the obstaclesthat might find their way on to your path.

Take risk, calculated of course, but if the direction you take or plan you’ve made is not working, don’t be afraid to change that direction.  The only thing constant in this world is change and you will not be exempt from it. This next one is important.  Remember this not just when you are with your sisters, but with whomever you come in contact with:Every action has an equal but opposite reaction.  No matter what you do, there will always be an effect, not only to you but those connected with that action.

I am very proud of you and your success this weekend, winning first place at your cheerleading competition.  I hope you savor it!  I wish it starts to build a mass of enthusiasm that will build a tremendous force inside you that will help you succeed in anything you do.   With that success, you become an inspiration for your sisters and others around you.

I am blessed every day that I am able to see your beautiful smile.

Simply, thank you.

Keep moving forward!
