Charitable works can benefit more than just the intended beneficiary. For instance, I am running in the Spartan Race next weekend, Saturday August 11, to support the Jim Rice Survivors Fund. Information below for anybody who would like to join, or give a small donation to a fallen hero.
Though I have not had much time to train for it, I have been more attentive to how I conduct myself with diet and exercise over the last two weeks. this event will also test my resolve to follow through on another challenge. In the end, I know that finishing will give me new courage to continue with positive changes in my life, renewed pride and sense of accomplishment.
Friends of Firefighter Jim Rice have come together to form Team Ricey and will be tackling the Spartan Race Sprint in Amesbury to raise money for the Firefighter James Rice Survivors Fund. Jim gave his life heroically while battling a fire at Hancock Street in Peabody on Friday, December 23, 2011. Donations will gladly be accepted on this site. We also have a limited amount of the Team Ricey shirts that the team will be wearing on race day. These can also be purchased on the site.
