Mission Clarified

Some visitors to the site have asked if I likened my website to the Slow Food movement.  I had to be honest during the discussion that I was unaware of its formal existence.  I went on the Internet and read up on the group.  Though I can say that I agree with them on certain issues, and others not, my website is about a similar type of introspection.

Introspection that looks at what we do in our lives as a whole, from the perspective of food and cooking.  The “Slow Food” movement has a leader, Carlo Perini, and is predominant in the conversation along with so called “World Leaders,” focusing on sustainable agriculture and eco friendly products and processes, along with equitable distribution of foods among nations.  Trying to incorporate all these into one mission is a challenge, as certain local ecologies do not have the pleasure of being able to produce certain products for proper nutrition and some leaders of nations do not allow for their citizenry to be beneficiaries of food donations from other countries.

On the other hand, Chef’s Tees espouses personal leadership, not relying on others to vindicate what you know to be proper and true.  This is not just about chefs but all of us.  So that we are all engaged not only at work but at home, as well as in the country and around the world.  We all need to incorporate the modern conveniences of today and tomorrow, from the farms to processing, distribution, execution, and delivery, if we are to achieve the goals previously stated above.

Chef's tees too advocates the need for support of local business and that moderation is needed for "fast" foods.  We are believers in the proper techniques of food preparation and safety, with the intentions of maximizing efficiencies, and minimizing waste.  Yet, there is no formal education process or prerequisites for graduation.  There is no room for propaganda. All that is needed is the understanding that we need to go to work every day with the intentions to do the right thing.  Carrying out that instinct, will lead to the pride you need for yourself and will be infectious to those around you.  That is success.  That is what we would like to achieve.
