Culture
In any restaurant of this caliber, the chefs are in the same position, building relationships. -Thomas Keller
An organizations culture and policies are important factors in establishing positive predispositions of individuals to stay focused on reaching a desired outcome. As an employee who has attended leadership programs within a corporation, I not only saw it as an opportunity for me to develop as a manager and employee, but for my own personal growth.
A culture of leadership and shared responsibility, I believe, encompasses the type of culture we as a people should be striving for. That’s not to say that personal responsibility is out the window, just the opposite, where it is expanded to include our associates and neighbors. Our corporate citizenship and shared responsibility understands that we all have things we are responsible for individually, which has either a direct or indirect effect in our relationship to our family, teammates, work associates, community, and all the way up the ladder– to country. A company should be promoting ideas and giving tools to its employees to succeed in the work place and in life. Self actualization is the motivator within the establishment, the meritocracy.
Nature arms each man with some faculty which enables him to do easily some feat impossible to any other, and thus makes him necessary to society. ... Society can never prosper, but must always be bankrupt, until every man does that which he was created to do. - The Conduct of Life, Ralph Waldo Emerson
The Culture of any kitchen varies from one to the other. Yet, strong kitchens have to have strong leadership to be consistent in its product and services. Leadership should not be prevalent only in the kitchen, but outside the kitchen as well. Developing relationships with the crew and promoting family fun days and team building exercises whenever possible is a great way to show appreciation and bring the whole team together. - David Baker

Work hard/Play hard: if its done right, you win! -David Baker
Beyond that, work life balance takes personal leadership. Balancing the two takes .prioritization to a new level. Sacrifice is also a key component for true success. It is great to have dreams and ambition to go further in your career. Sometimes it is necessary to take a step back and see if it really is the right time to move on, or should we stay focused on the task at hand. Each I'm sure has its positives, but could we gain a little more knowledge or take some of that extra time available to us and give a little more attention to our biggest supporters, our family. As the saying goes, slow and steady like a river, we will eventually find our ocean.

Parents can only give good advice or put them on the right paths, but the final forming of a person's character lies in their own hands.

Dedicated to our families. We all have those
moments where we neglect our parents. Too
busy living our own life, we often forget that on
the other side our parents are...
